Ever read a book that felt like you had written it? All the Way to the River by Elizabeth Gilbert is that book for me. It reads like my story! She shares a raw and vulnerable story of navigating love, loss, addictions and grief.

So many light bulb moments. I realize now with such clarity the partners I chose, the career choices even my friendships. I gave them all my love, attention, time, everything. I made them my priority and received scraps back, just to be loved, taken care of and validated.

Eight years ago, after reaching burnout, I chose a new path for me. I made a conscious decision to be single. The price for love was too high and I realized it’s my job to fill my cup and be there for me and take care of me. Living a life you love which brings joy and happiness is a journey not a sprint but I’m learning to live on purpose for my Spirit.

Until you learn to love yourself and live on purpose, heal from trauma and build healthy boundaries, the way you show up in life and in relationships can deplete you and you get lost. I’m not saying we all need to be single to do this. This was my choice. You can still go on your own journey to more self love and self worth while navigating existing relationships. Most of my clients are in relationships. And doing this work will also improve your relationships with partners, your children and friends.

This is a journey of learning and becoming. I am choosing to make midlife my best life. I see stories like mine reflected in the women I work with. How the patterns of childhood trauma led to co dependencies and addictive behaviour. Addictions to drama, excitement and “love” is a real thing people! Process addiction is addiction to behaviour.

“The only thing that can fill an infinite hole is infinite Source.”

This book is powerful I hope you get your hands on it. 🙏 I will delve more into process addiction over the next month.
