Fungus, mold and yeast -effects on your health

Featured

If you have been following me for a while you will notice that it is my belief that all imbalance and disease is caused by 3 things namely stress, pathogens, and toxins. That is why I address all three in my Radical Transformation in 90 days Programme.

If you live in the Garden Route (or anywhere near water or high rain fall and humidity areas) you may be more susceptible to fungal and mold exposure.

Mold and fungus are two types of organisms that belong to the kingdom Fungi. The main difference between mold and fungus is that mold is a multicellular, filamentous fungi whereas fungus is a unicellular or multicellular organism with a chitin cell wall. Fungi include molds, mushrooms, and yeast.

Here is more information on the effects of on your body. So many of these symptoms get misdiagnosed.

They give off Mycotoxins, poisonous chemicals that help defend its territory from other microbes. Mycotoxins can be very harmful to you — even in low concentrations.

Mycotoxins are more harmful than pesticides.

Some scientists believe.

Some common mycotoxins and ways they may impact your health include:

Aflatoxins: These are produced by Aspergillus flavus and some penicillium species, among others. Aflatoxins are linked with an increased risk of liver cancer.

Ochratoxin A: These mycotoxins can suppress your immune system. They can also damage your nerves and impair brain function. Some of this could be due to the oxidative stress — also known as free radical damage — that it triggers.

Trichothecenes: These are produced by black mold (stachybotrys), as well as some other molds. They can interfere with your cells’ ability to make proteins your body needs. They can also impair your immunity, trigger oxidative stress, and damage nerves.

Mycotoxins can also harm your mitochondria, kidneys, and lungs.

Some factors that may affect your susceptibility include your toxin load in general, your health status, and length of exposure. Genetics can also make a difference.

Signs of toxicity

There’s no “clear-cut” list of signs and symptoms that specifically point to mold illness. You may not even recall or be aware you’ve been exposed to mold. But one possible clue is a sudden, unexplainable downturn in your health.

This can lead to a series of doctor visits. You may be given a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, or irritable bowel syndrome. But this is overlooking the root cause.

For example, in a study of people with CFS, about 90% had spent significant time in a water-damaged building. And, 93% of the people had at least one type of mycotoxin in their urine. In contrast, healthy people had no detectable urine mycotoxins.

The researchers theorized that mitochondrial damage from mold toxicity was causing fatigue in the CFS group. Aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, and trichothecenes all can cause mitochondrial damage. That can lead to reduced energy production.

Mold can also trigger inflammation. One study found that people working in damp buildings produced anywhere from 2 to 1,000 times more inflammatory messengers.

Brain scans of people with mold illness suggest inflammation can lead to structural brain changes and nervous system dysfunction. That may contribute to hypersensitivity to foods, chemicals, and other items that didn’t previously bother you. This is part of chronic inflammatory response syndrome, described next.

Chronic inflammatory response syndrome

An ongoing inflammatory response to mold or other biotoxins can lead to chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS). It’s also referred to as biotoxin illness. In this condition, inflammation affects multiple systems of your body.

Chronic exposure to a water-damaged building is the most common trigger of CIRS. Chronic Lyme disease is another cause. Some people have both. That’s a double whammy to your system.

The following signs and symptoms are often found in CIRS due to mold-induced toxicity:

Brain function: Brain fog, memory loss, trouble finding words, difficulty concentrating, problems taking in new information

Digestive system: Metallic taste in mouth, nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, leaky gut, food sensitivities

Eyes: Blurred vision, eye irritation, itchy eyes, sensitivity to bright light

Energy: Excessive fatigue, thyroid dysfunction

Immune system: Poor immunity, autoimmune conditions, over-reactivity to foods and chemicals, flu-like symptoms

Mental state: Anxiety, depression, irritability, mood swings

Muscles and skeleton: Muscle pain, joint pain, morning stiffness

Nervous system: Headaches, “ice-pick-like” pain, static shocks, dizziness, poor balance and coordination, seizure-like events, tremors, numbness, tingling, skin sensitivity to light touch, temperature regulation problems

Respiratory system: Cough, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, chronic sinus congestion, new-onset or worsening asthma, shortness of breath, chest tightness

Scent sensitivity: Unpleasant symptoms upon exposure to fragrances, chemicals, and other odors (multiple chemical sensitivity)

Skin: Rashes, dryness, irritation

Sleep: Insomnia, frequent waking during sleep, night sweats

Urinary system: Increased urination, urgency, incontinence

Weight: Appetite swings, weight gain or weight-loss resistance

Many of these symptoms could also be due to reasons other than mold toxicity and CIRS. That’s why mold illness is often overlooked or misdiagnosed. The specific effects depend on your body’s unique vulnerabilities.

Signs and symptoms of mold illness include the following areas:

History of mold exposure: Do you recall spending significant time in a water-damaged building (regardless if you had symptoms at the time)? Or, did symptoms start when you moved into a different home/apartment or workplace?

Continual infections: Do you have recurrent infections, such as sinusitis or tonsillitis? Or, do you seem to have a weak immune system? These can be early signs of mold illness.

Sick-building syndrome: Do you feel worse when you enter certain buildings, such as your home, office, or school? Do you feel better when you spend a few days away from these buildings?

Chemical sensitivity: Do you have symptoms — such as nausea, headache, or cough — when exposed to various chemicals? Examples include perfumes, detergents, cleaning products, tobacco smoke, printer ink, paints, varnishes, hair products, street dust, and exhaust fumes.

Odor sensitivity: Have you developed a hypersensitivity to smells, particularly mold? For example, you may smell mold on other people’s clothes or develop a keen ability to smell mold in buildings.

More serious symptoms which some studies are showing are linked to toxicity include cancer, seizures, strokes, liver and kidney disease.

I suggest also checking and cleaning your washing machine inside, check showers and remember mold grows within 24 hours in your fridge. As a rule I don’t eat left overs which have been standing in the fridge.

Candidiasis

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida. Some species of Candida can cause infection in people; the most common is Candida albicans. Candida normally lives on the skin and inside the body, in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina, without causing any problems. Candida can cause infections if it grows out of control or if it enters deep into the body (for example, the eyes, bones, bloodstream or internal organs like the kidney, heart, or brain.) Candidemia, a bloodstream infection with Candida, is a common infection in hospitalized patients.

Symptoms include:

Oral thrush

Fatigue

Deficiencies of vitamin B6, essential fatty acids and magnesium

Recurring urinary or genital infections

Digestive issues

Sinus infections

Skin and nail infections

Joint, pelvic or lower back pain

Fever, chills, headache

If you have any of these symptoms, I strongly suggest doing a complete pathogen cleanse before resorting to long term chronic disease management with medications. I am not a medical practitioner and as such this is just my personal advice based on what I have experienced over the 17 years practicing as an energy medicine practitioner. Please consult your doctor if you are considering a pathogen cleanse and you have any concerns.

*Case study fungal infection relation to stroke symptoms (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32265138/)

Ischemic stroke secondary to CNS fungal infections should be considered in patients with recurrent or progressive cryptogenic stroke, regardless of immune status and cerebrospinal fluid profile. CNS yeast and mold infections have slightly different stroke and laboratory characteristics and should have a distinct diagnostic method. Depending on clinical suspicion, a thorough diagnostic approach including spinal fluid analysis and biopsy should be considered.

What to expect from a kinesiology session…..

Factors that lead to allergy symptoms….

Lymph drainage and detoxing

Detoxing is important as it assists your body in getting rid of waste, toxins and pathogens. This reduces and even eliminates many symptoms AND even helps you to lose weight and feel great.

One way you can provide this support for your body is by going forl lymph drainage massages.

The lymphatic system plays an important role of keeping the immune system functioning. Adverse lifestyle choices, stress, toxins, pathogens, pregnancy, surgeries and medications compromise the immune system. A sluggish lymphatic system can lead to major imbalance and a diseased state.

During a manual lymph drainage massage a therapist will gently massage you from your feet to your head as your lymphatic system runs throughout your body.

Lymphatic drainage can benefit:

  • Edema
  • Skin disorders, such as acne, rosacea, eczema
  • Metabolic problems, including fatigue, sleep disorders, chronic pain and stress
  • Gastrointestinal issues, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), celiac and Crohn’s disease and constipation
  • Rheumatology disorders, like arthritis and osteoporosis, and Fibromyalgia
  • Neurologic problems such as migraines and vertigo
  • Respiratory congestion, sinus

Drinking warm lemon water and mild exercise also supports your lymphatic system but the best remedy for a healthy lymphatic system is correct breathing. I recommend watching how Wim Hoff does it. Not only will this benefit your lymphatic system it will increase your immunity and calm your mind if you make it a regular practice.

I offer full body lymph drainage massages to assist with lymph drainage and circulation issues. Call or WhatsApp on 065 924 7332 to book your massage.

Testimonials

I was suffering with severe pain and swelling of my left ankle for more than a year. Several visits to doctors, specialists, MRI scans, sonars and X-rays and thousands of rands later no one had a solution. After only one lymphatic drainage massage and ozone treatment with Gillian, to my surprise, there was an immediate improvement. After the 3 rd treatment I could walk normally and the swelling was gone . My last treatment was more than a month ago and no swelling, no pain and no medication. I recommend this treatment. It sure changed my life.

Sylvia

The most incredible massages I have ever had. I’ve been for four already over the last two months. The only way one can describe Gillian’s lymph drainage massages is that she tunes in to your body and senses what it needs.

Not only relaxing, the times with Gillian extend into deeply meaningful explorations of where one is at with one’s life.

Every session with Gillian is a truly remarkable and enriching experience. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Ingrid

Gillian is outstanding. Her knowledge and guidance shine through, and she has the gift of massage and healing. I am a massage therapist myself, and have never experienced a better massage and healing experience. I will visit her every time I come to Knysna, and highly recommend her.

How to do a kidney cleanse fast

Your kidneys serve an important function by filtering and managing the waste your body produces, so it’s essential to keep them healthy. One way to keep your kidneys functioning properly is to do a kidney cleansing fast. Not only can a kidney cleansing fast dissolve kidney stones, it can also help rejuvenate and detoxify the organs for a healthier system.

Steps

Consult your doctor before starting a kidney cleansing fast. Depending on your current health conditions, it may not be safe. A kidney cleansing fast can also affect medication absorption.

Reduce the amount of food you eat a few days before your kidney cleansing fast. This will give your body time to adjust and will be easier once you start the cleanse.

Determine how much water you should consume each day. As part of the fast, you should consume half of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds (90 kg’s), you should aim to drink 100 ounces (3 litres) per day.

Drink only water for 3 days, as well as organic vegetable or fruit juice, or even herbal tea. No food is allowed during this time.

Consider adding a pinch of Himalayan salt-up to 1/4 teaspoon-to every 10 ounces of water. While fruit juice and teas are fine to drink during your kidney cleansing fast, avoid alcohol and caffeine.

Combat potassium and electrolyte loss by drinking a vegetable broth.

Combine potato and carrot peels, chopped beets, onion, garlic cloves, celery and dark green leafy vegetables. Add water and simmer for more than one hour.

Include the broth in your kidney fasting cleanse by drinking it 2 or 3 times a day during the fast. Throw away the vegetables and do not eat them during your cleanse.

Eat watermelon at the end of your kidney cleanse to further your treatment. Experts suggest that eating 2 large organic watermelons will help empty toxins from your kidneys.

Continue to ease out of the fast slowly, eating raw fruits and vegetables for a few days after you break the fast and before returning to your regular diet.

Feeling out of sorts? Listen to your gut

It’s not entirely obvious when there’s a problem. The signs are a little more subtle and you might not even realize they’re related to your gut.

Common symptoms associated with imbalanced flora–see how many apply to you:

– Frequent tiredness and/or fatigue
– Frequent constipation and/or diarrhea
– Repeated infections, including UTIs, vaginal yeast infections, bronchitis, upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, etc.
– Gas and bloating
– Memory problems, anxiety or depression
– Catch more than one cold per year
– High cholesterol
– Skin breakouts, cold sores
– Vague aches and pains that can’t otherwise be explained

All of these are indicative of having dysbiosis in your gut — in other words, harmful bacteria have taken over and outnumbered the good guys. And if you have been formally diagnosed with any of these conditions, imbalanced flora is practically a given:

– IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
– IBD (Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis)
– Allergies and asthma
– Migraines
– Chronic fatigue syndrome
– Fibromyalgia
– Cancer
– Eczema and psoriasis
– Acne and skin rashes
– Autoimmune conditions

The “cement” of your body’s “foundation” lies in your friendly intestinal bacteria. You have trillions of these little guys milling around down there–more than the number of cells you have in your entire body!

They make up about 70% of your immune system…so whether or not you get the latest bug, cold, virus, flu or infection primarily depends on your flora count.

They surround and engulf dangerous pathogens you ingest from your food or the environment and “escort them out” when you have a bowel movement.  These guys help encourage a healthy cholesterol level by eliminating and even “eating” excess cholesterol.
Plus they help control the pH level of your intestines, which can help keep your digestion efficient and prevent gas, bloating and constipation. You should always have a slightly alkaline pH level to remain healthy. They also help keep your gut wall strong, which can prevent toxins from seeping into your bloodstream and causing pain and inflammation throughout your body.
Restore your gut health with the “4 R’s”

The good news is you can help restore the health of your body’s
foundation–your gut–by using the “4 R” approach:

1- Remove
2- Replace
3- Reinforce
4- Repair

1- Remove

This involves removal and avoidance of things that can greatly harm your friendly flora.

These can include, but are not limited to:

– Foods that you are sensitive or allergic to
– Cigarette smoke
– Soda
– Excessive alcohol (especially beer)
– Refined carbs — including sugar, flour, donuts, bagels, hamburgers, white rice, cookies, pastries, cakes, snack chips, pretzels, candy, etc.
– Antibiotics
– Acid reducing medications (both OTC and prescription)
– Regularly lacking adequate sleep

-Caprylic acid is a good aid in removal of overgrowths

2- Replace

Step 2 is to help reverse dysbiosis by replacing and rebuilding your supply of beneficial bacteria, and this is done with a probiotic supplement. Research studies have shown that it is important to use more than one strain of probiotic bacteria when tackling dysbiosis. Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus acidophilus, have been shown to be extremely effective in fighting dangerous gut microbes and strengthen your intestinal wall. Some believe fermented foods like Kombucha which contain pre and probiotics can greatly assist in replacing beneficial bacteria.

3- Reinforce

Reinforcing a healthy flora balance means nourishing your friendly bacteria (while starving the bad guys!) and having smooth digestion to help keep your intestinal tract squeaky clean and avoid waste and harmful bacteria build-up. This involves eating foods that naturally nourish your friendly flora like fresh organic vegetables and whole grains.
4- Repair

The final step of the 4 R approach to a healthy gut is to help repair any intestinal damage that you may have from harmful bacteria and medications. Good supplements like glyconutrients assist your body to heal itself.
Remember, your gut is your body’s foundation. If you don’t have gut health, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of your health starts to crumble with new pains and other symptoms cropping up every month or two.

Specialised Kinesiology, a complementary health modality utilising muscle testing can greatly assist with gut imbalance. Listen to your gut to keep in good health!

The laws of health

When confronted with a health challenge, whether a loss of energy or a medically diagnosed, chronic condition label, it is important that you understand what you are dealing with.

Every cell in the body is like a little battery. Every organ, gland and system in your body is made up of cells. In order for your body to function healthily, you must have full cellular power.

If any part of the body shows signs of pain, degeneration, illness or disease, then it’s not the part or system that is affected, it’s the cells in the part or system that are affected.

Every cell needs oxygen to convert glucose into ATP. ATP is the cell fuel or energy that maintains a delicate mineral balance in and around your cells. It’s this delicate balance that accounts for the electrical potential of your cells, without it you are powerless.

In order to get oxygen and remain healthy, your cells must be in a Living, Dry state. If the Living, Dry state is altered you will experience pain, degeneration, illness and disease and ultimately death.

Only one thing can alter the Living, Dry state and that is trapped blood protein. Trapped blood protein pulls water out of the blood stream, reducing the energy field and altering the Living, Dry state.

This only happens when you break the Pure Laws of Health.

The laws are:

1.         Everybody must work…optimal health relies completely upon circulation – the circulation of the blood to deliver essential ‘groceries’ and the circulation of the lymph to ‘do the dishes’. While movement is fundamental to good circulation, it is primarily through breathing that constant flow is maintained.

2.         Don’t argue quarrel or fight…don’t stress yourself physically, emotionally or mentally. Stress is like a shock to the system, it dilates your blood vessels causing massive blood protein loss.

3.         Don’t defile your body . . . if you put anything unnatural into your body you are quite literally poisoning yourself. Make sure that the food you eat is nourishing your body. Even the healthiest body is susceptible to environmental toxins as well as having its own metabolic waste; therefore it must also regularly be cleared, through cleansing.

In conclusion, in the Wet state, four primary conditions arise that lead to every diagnosed symptom of pain, degeneration, illness, disease and ultimately death.

These are oxygen deprivation, dehydration, acidity and nutrient deficiency.

Magnesium is an essential mineral

Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the human body and is essential to good health. It is critical in over 350 essential biochemical reactions in the body including digestion, energy production, muscle function, bone formation, creation of new cells, activation of B vitamins, relaxation of muscles, and also assists in the proper functioning of the heart, kidneys, adrenals, brain and nervous system.

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body—it can be found in human bones, teeth and red blood cells, and activates more enzyme systems than both Iron and Zinc combined.

Deficiency symptoms:

Most magnesium is stored in the tissues, so leg cramps, foot pain or muscle ‘twitches’ are usually the first signs. Insomnia, migraine headaches are also very common magnesium deficiency symptoms. And if ignored, some of the other more serious symptoms of Magnesium deficiency (mentioned below) can develop.

  • Low Energy
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • PMS and hormonal imbalances
  • Insomnia
  • Muscle tension/cramps/spasms
  • Abnormal heart rhythm
  • Headaches
  • Nervousness and Anxiety
  • Magnesium deficiency not only exists but is common
  • Chronic deficiency can produce long-term damage and can be fatal

Allergies, pathogens & toxins

In Specialised Kinesiology we prefer to talk about Immune Mismatch Responses (IMR) instead of allergies.

Immune Mismatch Responses happen when our bodies react to certain foodstuffs or environmental factors. Specialised Kinesiology has proven very successful in working with these.

Common causes

Wheat, dairy, chemicals, sugar, eggs, grass, nuts, pollen seafood and feathers are some antagonists but each person is different and one could have reactions to almost anything. Trauma is also found to trigger reactions.

Symptoms

Some symptoms include runny nose, sinusitis, sneezing, itchiness, irritability, insomnia, hives, bloating, stomach cramps, redness, dark circles under the eyes, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath.

Pathogens and toxicity

When our system is overloaded with pathogens or toxins and cannot cope with eliminating them, one can also get all the above symptoms. When the immune system is compromised, that’s when pathogens are opportunistic. They also thrive in an acidic environment. It’s beneficial to check for these and general imbalances in the microbiome.

We use a combination of kinesiology, iridology, nutritional support and Rife to deal with the cause of symptoms from allergens, pathogens and toxins.

Rife

The Rife Resonator is a machine that generates electro-magnetic frequencies, which are relayed through the body via the hands or the feet.

In 1920 the late Dr Royal Raymond Rife designed and built a special light microscope with which he could visualise live viruses. He discovered that each virus, bacterium and parasite was fatally sensitive to a specific wave frequency, which he was able to witness through the lens of his microscope.

This principle is similar to that whereby a glass is shattered by a musical note at just the right pitch. Thus an organism can be selectively destroyed without harming the surrounding tissue. This principle can be applied to the human body with absolute safety and great efficacy.

These RIFE frequencies can be used in the treatment of many conditions, such as: arthritis, influenza, bronchitis, tonsillitis, shingles, candidiasis, fibrositis, chronic fatigue syndrome, glandular fever, cellulitis, sports injuries and many other acute and chronic diseases.

Not only are viruses and other pathogens destroyed, but also damaged tissues are detoxified and regenerated and stress is reduced [reactive treatment]. RIFE therapy can therefore also be used to enhance general health and prevent illness [prophylactic treatment].

Stress – Emotional, mental & physical

When we find ourselves in situations where what we are doing is not aligned with our values and beliefs, we experience stress and often with that, some pain. If we are focussing more energy in any one of these quadrants (emotional, mental, physical, spiritual) then one or more of the other quadrants will suffer.  This is when we experience imbalance.

When we don’t feel heard, or despite best efforts we don’t get the desired results, or even when we overwork our bodies or minds to achieve acceptance, we go out of balance and usually one area or more will suffer.

Symptoms of this stress could include:

Relationship problems

Depression

Weight issues

Fatigue

Insomnia

Lack of direction and focus

Pain

Specialised Kinesiology has proven very successful in dealing with the above symptoms and redefining values and beliefs to assist people in living more balanced and happier lives.

I look forward to assisting you with your journey to a happier, less stressed life.

Omega 3 – viagra for the brain

Omega  3’s are essential fatty acid molecules that make and repair the body’s  cells and organs. They can raise “good” cholesterol to  help unclog veins and arteries. While Omega-6 is a pro-inflammatory fatty acid, Omega-3 is an anti-inflammatory fatty  acid.  Our modern society consumes excessive amounts of foods loaded with  harmful Omega-6 oils. Omega-3 supplements are one  of the basics now recommended by doctors for heart health, improved metabolism,  and brain function.

Nearly every system in the body can benefit from Omega 3, including the cardiovascular system, immune system, circulatory system, reproductive system, nervous system, as well as joints.

What is does:

  • Increased HDL (“good”) cholesterol and decreased triglycerides.
  • Lowers blood pressure significantly in individuals with hypertension.
  • Helps protect against strokes caused by plaque buildup and blood clots in  the arteries that lead to the brain.
  • Help lower triglycerides  and apoproteins (markers of diabetes), and raise ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL)
  • Reduce tenderness in joints,  decrease morning stiffness, and allow for a reduction in the amount of  medication needed for people with rheumatoid arthritis
  • Help increase levels of calcium in the body, deposit calcium in the bones, and improve bone strength
  •  Important  components of nerve cell membranes. They help nerve cells communicate with each  other, which is an essential step in maintaining good mental health.
  • May decrease inflammation and improve lung  function in adults with asthma
  • Appears to reduce the risk of some cancers
  • Promotes a healthy heart
  • Thins the blood
  • Improves functioning of the nervous system
  • Relieves depression, schizophrenia, attention deficit, hyperactivity and autism
  • Improves sleep, improves skin condition, helps balance hormones
  • Reduces insulin resistance.

Deficiency Signs:

Dry skin, eczema, dry hair or dandruff, excessive thirst, excessive sweating, poor memory or learning difficulties, inflammatory health problems, eg arthritis, high blood lipids, depression, PMS or breast pain, water retention.

Sources:

Our intake of Omega 6 can be too high because of our diets (corn, soy, sunflower, margarine and other oils) but Omega 3 is only available from good quality oily fish sources like Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel and Cod Liver oil.
